About this resource

The Department of Veterans Affairs publishes options for reaching VA-approved health appointments. Start with VA’s transportation overview and your facility’s transportation representative.

Who may use it: VA’s ordinary ride-request instructions apply to veterans enrolled in VA health care with an appointment at a VA facility or a VA-authorized community provider. Local pickup areas, booking deadlines, schedules, and capacity vary. Special mode transportation has additional requirements; discuss mobility needs with your VA team.

How to start: use VA’s official ride-request instructions to find the phone or online route. Confirm the destination, return trip, and any caregiver arrangements. Do not assume a submitted request is a confirmed booking.

Costs: VA describes free rides through applicable programs. Reimbursement of expenses you pay is a separate benefit with its own eligibility and filing rules. Ask about approval before purchasing transportation.

Nationwide information; actual transportation is arranged locally. Public sources checked October 16, 2026. This independently researched listing does not establish an enrolled FTVA partnership or guarantee a ride.
